Eamcet Counselling, Useful tips for students

Dear Students,

As Eamcet counselling is approaching, Some of you posed me questions regarding which branch has to be chosen in Engineering.

Regarding Branch selection, what you have to look is, the future of that branch. I mean the amount of jobs that branch will have, difficulty level of that branch, higher education opportunities and off course your interest in that branch. Most of the people opt for ECE,CSE,EEE,MECH and CIVIL in this order . As I say CSE will be little bit easy compared to other branches. Remaining branches are core branches where you have to put more effort. Regarding job opportunities every branch has it's own job market but i say CSE and ECE has some what more percentage of jobs compared to others. Even if you take MECH or Civil there lot of jobs available in govt PSU like ONGC,ISRO etc and also as the construction sector is blooming up you can find jobs in private sector also. But, I caution you, I can't guarantee that you will get a job once you study that branch. You have to be serious and has to put lot of hard work from the day one you joined  in Engineering college and this has to continued till to the end of your course. Mere sake of taking a branch and reading is useless. So be cautious.

Regarding college selection,First and foremost is, please select 5 to 10 colleges where you will get admissions based on last year cutoff rank for your branch chosen. you can google it for "cutoff ranks in Eamcet 2012". Then of the 10 colleges analyze the college which has good track record. Track record in the sense like, Infrastructure, faculty of the college, and placements. you can get this information from college websites or by directly visiting the college and taking to senior people. Then freeze on 3 to 4 colleges out of the 10 and rank them in order. So you can put the same options when counselling started.
